UN Adviser Hani Abu Zeid Honoured for Leading Humanitarian Relief Efforts Across Gaza, Syria and Lebanon
Dr. Hani Hassan Abu Zeid, a United Nations adviser based in Geneva, has been honoured by senior Jordanian officials in recognition of his contributions to international humanitarian relief and his role in coordinating aid convoys for communities affected by conflicts across Gaza, Syria and Lebanon.
Abu Zeid received the first honour from Dr. Hussein Al Shibli, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, in recognition of his sustained efforts to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and support relief operations in some of the region’s most vulnerable areas.
In a separate ceremony, Brigadier General Sahl Al Hamouri, Director of the Royal Medical Services of Jordan, also honoured Abu Zeid for his work in facilitating humanitarian assistance and supporting the coordination of relief convoys serving populations affected by ongoing humanitarian crises.
The recognition reflects Abu Zeid’s long-standing involvement in international relief initiatives carried out in his capacity as a United Nations adviser in Geneva. Throughout recent years, he has contributed to coordinating humanitarian missions and strengthening collaboration between relief agencies, charitable organisations and international partners to help ensure that essential aid reaches those most in need.
His work has focused particularly on supporting humanitarian responses in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon, where coordinated international efforts remain critical to delivering food, medical supplies and other forms of emergency assistance to affected communities.
Commenting on the recognition, Abu Zeid described the honours as a tribute to everyone working in the humanitarian sector rather than an individual achievement.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition, which reflects the collective efforts of everyone involved in coordinating humanitarian relief for communities affected by crises, particularly in Gaza, Syria and Lebanon. It inspires us to continue working with our partners to expand humanitarian cooperation and deliver assistance to those who need it most,” he said.
The twin honours underscore the growing importance of cooperation between national humanitarian institutions and international organisations in responding to regional crises and supporting vulnerable populations through coordinated relief efforts.
