Magna AI and Naver Innovation Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Sovereign AI in Saudi Arabia
Magna AI, a company specializing in sovereign Artificial Intelligence—established in partnership with Trend Micro and Wistron Digital Technology Holding and powered by advanced NVIDIA technologies—has announced a strategic partnership with Naver Innovation, a leader in smart city solutions and digital twins. The collaboration aims to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts in developing its sovereign AI capabilities.
The agreement was signed during the "Global AI Expo 2026" in Riyadh, in the presence of Dr. Moataz Bin Ali, CEO of Magna AI, and Yasser Al-Obaidan, CEO of Naver Innovation.
This partnership comes at a time when the Kingdom continues to solidify its position as an emerging global power in the AI sector through massive investments, with a focus on developing secure and reliable solutions and fostering an environment conducive to innovation. The impact of these efforts was reflected in the 2026 AI Index Report issued by Stanford University, which revealed that Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in AI systems protection, data security and privacy, and women's empowerment within the sector.
With the growing importance of AI as a national strategic pillar, there is an increasing need to build a sovereign ecosystem that allows the state to manage these technologies according to its priorities and cybersecurity requirements. This supports long-term economic growth and enhances the Kingdom's leadership in technology and the digital economy.
Under the agreement, both parties will explore opportunities to develop reliable AI infrastructure and secure platforms. This will enhance sovereign capabilities, enabling government entities and enterprises to independently design and manage AI applications while maintaining data security, service continuity, and regulatory compliance. The initiative leverages Magna AI’s comprehensive capabilities in sovereign AI alongside Naver Innovation’s local expertise to help the Kingdom bolster its national potential and expand the use of these technologies across various sectors.
Furthermore, the partnership aims to assist organizations and government bodies in transitioning from initial planning and testing to the actual implementation of AI, operating within a secure, scalable, and locally managed environment governed by strict regulatory frameworks. The collaboration unifies infrastructure, smart solutions, and data protection mechanisms into an integrated framework, delivering long-term economic and social value to the Kingdom and contributing to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Moataz Bin Ali, CEO of Magna AI, emphasized that building national capabilities in artificial intelligence is now as crucial as laying the foundational infrastructure of previous industrial revolutions, noting that possessing these capabilities will determine a nation's position in the global economy in the coming years.
