US Dollar Exchange Rate Stabilizes Against Egyptian Pound Amid Official Eid Holiday
A state of complete calm dominated the US dollar exchange rate against the Egyptian pound at the start of Thursday morning transactions, May 28, 2026. The greenback maintained its stability across the branch networks of the majority of banks operating within the local banking market.
Holiday Stability and Monetary Supply This noticeable stability in exchange rates is supported by quiet trading activity in the banking sector due to the official Eid holiday, amid positive indicators regarding the stability of the money supply and local dollar liquidity. This combination helps maintain a balanced trade of Arab and foreign currencies without any sudden fluctuations.
In a recent report, Fitch Ratings pointed out that net foreign assets at the Central Bank of Egypt and the banking sector declined by approximately $7 billion during the two months ending on April 1st, reaching around $22 billion. This figure includes nearly $2 billion resulting from the decline in gold prices.
