US Dollar Rises Against Egyptian Pound in Three Banks at Start of Monday Trading

The US dollar recorded a slight increase against the Egyptian pound in three Egyptian banks at the start of trading on Monday, reflecting continued fluctuations in the local foreign exchange market amid close monitoring of global economic developments and currency movements.

According to banking data, the dollar rose marginally in several banks compared with Sunday’s closing levels, while remaining stable in other major lenders operating in the Egyptian market.

The exchange rate at a number of leading banks hovered around EGP 52.17 to EGP 52.27 for buying and between EGP 52.27 and EGP 52.37 for selling during early trading hours.

Market observers said the movement reflects normal trading fluctuations tied to demand levels, liquidity conditions, and global dollar performance, particularly as investors continue monitoring expectations related to US interest rates and international financial markets.

The Egyptian banking sector has witnessed relative exchange rate stability in recent weeks despite ongoing regional and global economic uncertainty, supported by continued monetary measures and improving foreign currency inflows.

Analysts expect the dollar’s performance against the Egyptian pound to remain closely linked to external market conditions, foreign investment flows, and developments in Egypt’s macroeconomic environment during the coming period.
