Egypt’s NTRA and Customs Authority Launch Installment Services for Overseas Mobile Phone Fees via ”Valu”

In a strategic move to streamline the regulation of imported mobile devices, the Egyptian Customs Authority and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) have announced the launch of an installment service for fees due on mobile phones brought from abroad. Valu has been selected as the inaugural consumer finance partner for this initiative, offering users flexible payment plans to settle regulatory dues.

The initiative aims to enhance the user experience within the mobile governance framework by providing diverse electronic payment solutions. Beyond the new installment option, users can continue to settle fees via the "Telefony" app, e-wallets, and direct bank transfers. To further support Egyptian expatriates, the authorities have also extended the grace period for overseas devices to 120 days from the date of first activation, allowing more time for compliance before any regulatory measures are enforced.
