Egypt Raises Fuel Prices Amid Exceptional Global Energy Market Conditions

The government has decided to adjust the prices of several petroleum products and compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles, effective Tuesday, in light of the exceptional conditions currently affecting global energy markets.

The new prices are as follows:

Gasoline 95: increased from EGP 21 to EGP 24 per liter

Gasoline 92: increased from EGP 19.25 to EGP 22.25 per liter

Gasoline 80: increased from EGP 17.75 to EGP 20.75 per liter

Diesel: increased from EGP 17.5 to EGP 20.5 per liter

LPG cylinders (12.5 kg): increased from EGP 225 to EGP 275

LPG cylinders (25 kg): increased from EGP 450 to EGP 550

Vehicle CNG: increased from EGP 10 to EGP 13 per cubic meter

The decision comes in response to the exceptional situation resulting from geopolitical developments in the Middle East, which have had a direct impact on global energy markets.

Disruptions in supply chains, rising geopolitical risks, and higher maritime shipping and insurance costs have led to a significant surge in global crude oil and petroleum product prices, reaching levels not seen in years.

In response to these challenges, the government continues efforts to strengthen domestic production and accelerate exploration and development of Egypt’s oil and gas resources, while encouraging investment partners to expand their activities in order to reduce the country’s import bill.

Authorities are closely monitoring market developments and cost dynamics to ensure the sustainable supply of petroleum products and natural gas to citizens and all sectors of the economy.

The government emphasized that any exceptional measures taken are part of a responsible approach to managing global challenges, while maintaining energy security and stability in the domestic market as a top priority.
