MRB Holding Launches Initial Phase of District 9 Commercial Project in 6th of October City
MRB Holding announced the launch of the first operational phase of the District 9 commercial project in 6th of October City, developed by NEXT Developments, with the opening of Carrefour as the main anchor tenant. The move reflects MRB’s ongoing expansion in managing and operating commercial projects in Egypt.
MRB’s role in leasing, managing, and operating District 9 strengthens its presence in Egypt’s retail management sector, in collaboration with NEXT Developments, a company known for its fast-growing portfolio and modern commercial destinations designed to meet market needs.
From the early stages, MRB conducted in-depth market studies, analyzing consumer behavior, competitor activity, and identifying target segments. These insights influenced some design adjustments and space allocation to optimize the commercial experience for visitors.
Carrefour, as the main anchor, is expected to drive foot traffic and support other retail, entertainment, and service outlets within the mall.

The project covers over 100,000 square meters with investments exceeding EGP 1 billion. It features more than 86 retail units across 27 buildings, including restaurants, cafes, and international brands. The F&B zone offers direct views of the Pyramids, enhancing the dining experience. Additional leisure areas, green spaces, and family-friendly facilities provide a balanced mix of modern design and outdoor relaxation, making District 9 a premier commercial destination in western Cairo.
