In response to an unexpected technical issue affecting air traffic control and navigation systems in Greek airspace, the Greek authorities have fully closed their skies until further notice. EgyptAir issued a statement confirming that the closure has impacted a number of its flights, as well as those of other airlines traveling to or over Europe and the United States, due to the reliance of these routes on Greek airspace as a major aviation corridor.

EgyptAir emphasized that operational measures are being taken to reroute some flights to avoid Greek airspace. The airline noted that implementing these adjustments may take some time due to the operational complexity and the strategic importance of this airspace for flights to Europe and the U.S.

The carrier confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation through its Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC), assessing the impact on flight schedules, and maintaining communication with passengers through all sales channels and customer service outlets both in Egypt and abroad to provide updates in real time.
