Egyptian Banking Sector Index Opens Higher Amid Mixed Market Performance
The banking sector index on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Sunday’s session with a gain of 0.23%, reaching 3,636 points.
During the morning session, banking stocks recorded trading volumes of EGP 28.688 million, accounting for 4.2% of total market turnover. The sector saw around 654,980 shares change hands, representing 0.2% of the total traded shares on the EGX.
Meanwhile, the broader market showed mixed performance at the start of trading. The main EGX30 index slipped 0.21% to 41,740 points, while the EGX70, tracking small and medium-sized enterprises, rose 0.4% to 13,177 points. The EGX100 index also advanced 0.31% to reach 17,480 points.
