Minister of Communications Inaugurates NTRA Spectrum Monitoring Center in Giza

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, inaugurated the headquarters of the Spectrum Monitoring Center affiliated with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in Giza Governorate, in the presence of Eng. Mohamed Shamroukh, Chief Executive Officer of NTRA. The inauguration comes as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficient management of national resources and support the development of Egypt’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Spectrum monitoring systems represent a cornerstone of effective spectrum management, as radio spectrum is a limited national resource. These systems play a critical role in regulating spectrum usage, minimizing harmful interference, and ensuring compliance with approved technical standards. This, in turn, directly contributes to improving the quality and efficiency of wireless services in the Egyptian market and supports the sustainability and continued growth of the telecommunications sector.

During his inspection tour of the new center, Dr. Amr Talaat reviewed a detailed presentation delivered by Major General Mohamed Said, Vice President of NTRA for Infrastructure and Spectrum Affairs. The presentation highlighted the technical capabilities of the new headquarters and the upgraded spectrum monitoring system, as well as its pivotal role in enhancing technical oversight mechanisms and improving the efficiency of spectrum management nationwide.

The Minister also reviewed several key components of the center, including the central control room overseeing a nationwide network of spectrum monitoring sensors deployed across the country. He toured the specialized measurement laboratory, which is equipped with advanced laboratory and field spectrum measurement devices, as well as the technical support workshop responsible for the maintenance and upgrading of equipment and systems. In addition, the visit included an overview of the mobile spectrum monitoring stations, which provide flexible and rapid-response solutions to address wireless interference issues in various locations.

The inauguration of the new Spectrum Monitoring Center reflects NTRA’s continued efforts to strengthen spectrum management and monitoring capabilities, enhance the quality and stability of wireless services, and meet the evolving needs of the Egyptian market. It also aligns with Egypt’s ambition to keep pace with rapid advancements in telecommunications technologies and to reinforce the country’s position as a leading regional hub for communications and information technology.
