Damen CEO Unveils Major 2026 Expansion Across 110,000 POS Locations

In an exclusive interview on the sidelines of Cairo ICT 2025, Eng. Samah El-Mallah, CEO of Damen for Electronic Payments, revealed an ambitious expansion strategy that is set to reshape Egypt’s digital financial services landscape. Central to this roadmap is a landmark collaboration with Egypt Post that will allow citizens to redeem postal money transfers through more than 110,000 Damen merchant points across cities, districts, and villages nationwide, eliminating dependence on post office branches alone.

El-Mallah emphasized that the initiative aligns with the company’s vision to make financial services more accessible and convenient, supporting Egypt’s broader agenda for digital transformation and financial inclusion.

Expanding Access to Postal Transfers

El-Mallah explained that Damen is launching a new service enabling beneficiaries to collect postal money transfers through its extensive network using a secure one-time password (OTP) delivered directly to the recipient.

He noted that the 110,000 POS terminals operating around the clock will ease pressure on post offices and provide citizens with fast, secure access to transfers from the nearest available machine.

Transforming Transfer Operations Nationwide

According to El-Mallah, the collaboration will introduce an unprecedented level of speed and flexibility to postal transfer redemptions. It will also significantly expand access for citizens living in remote villages and underserved areas, ensuring millions can complete transactions without the need to travel long distances to post office branches.

New Salary and Pension Withdrawal Services in 2026

Looking ahead, Damen is preparing to roll out a groundbreaking service in 2026 that will allow employees and pensioners to withdraw their monthly payments directly from the same bread and ration card points they already use.

El-Mallah described the service as a major shift in how salary and pension disbursement will be conducted in Egypt, especially benefiting elderly citizens and those in rural regions.

Enhanced Utility Services: Electricity, Water and Gas

Damen continues to expand its portfolio of utility payment solutions. The company now offers advanced services for electricity, water, and gas recharging, including the ability to recharge gas and water balances remotely from home.

“These services save citizens’ time and provide a seamless, user-friendly experience,” El-Mallah said.

Record Transaction Volumes in 2025

El-Mallah revealed that Damen’s digital payments volume reached EGP 23 billion in 2025, reflecting strong market confidence in the company’s ecosystem.

Targets for 2026

Driven by an expanding customer base and new digital services, Damen aims to lift total payment volumes to EGP 30 billion in 2026.

8 Million Users and 450,000 Daily Transactions

Damen currently serves 8 million users and processes approximately 450,000 transactions per day across its nationwide merchant network, according to El-Mallah.

Robust, Offline-Secure Infrastructure

Addressing concerns about system security, El-Mallah stressed that Damen’s transaction engine is fully secured and does not rely on internet connectivity to complete operations.

“This architecture ensures maximum stability and protection for users,” he explained, adding that all withdrawal services are protected with dynamic OTP codes for enhanced security.

A Roadmap for Wider Digital Inclusion

Looking to the future, El-Mallah confirmed that Damen will continue expanding its digital portfolio and strengthening its national footprint.

“Our latest collaboration with Egypt Post is a major step toward bringing essential financial services closer to every citizen,” he said. “In the coming years, we plan to broaden our service ecosystem to further accelerate digital transformation and financial inclusion across Egypt.”
