e& Egypt Unveils World’s First Uranus MB² Antenna, Marking a Breakthrough in Microwave Network Technology

e& Egypt, the leading integrated telecommunications and technology provider, has announced a major global innovation milestone with the introduction of the world’s first Uranus MB² Multi-Beam Multi-Band Antenna. Developed through a strategic partnership with HUAWEI Egypt, the groundbreaking technology marks a decisive step forward in enhancing microwave transmission capacity, efficiency, and scalability across Egypt’s telecom infrastructure.

The Uranus MB² is the first antenna of its kind capable of enabling a single microwave unit to simultaneously connect to multiple sites across different frequency bands. This unprecedented capability tackles long-standing structural and spatial constraints on crowded cell towers, significantly improving site efficiency and optimizing spectrum usage. By accelerating network deployment timelines by up to 50% in dense or complex locations, the technology will enable e& Egypt to deliver stronger backhaul capacity, superior user experience, and next-generation connectivity that aligns with Egypt’s digital transformation agenda.

Amr Fathy, Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO) at e& Egypt, commented: «This milestone marks a transformative leap in microwave transmission and network evolution. The Uranus MB² Antenna stands as a powerful example of our commitment to shaping the future of connectivity. Our strategic partnership with Huawei continues to be instrumental in unlocking new dimensions of network growth. As we advance into the 5G era and beyond, these breakthrough solutions ensure that both our customers and the nation remain ahead in digital readiness.»

The deployment of the Uranus MB² comes on the heels of another major achievement for e& Egypt. In collaboration with HUAWEI Egypt and under the supervision of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), the company successfully conducted a Full Duplex trial on the E-Band, setting a new global benchmark in wireless transmission capacity. The trial achieved a record-breaking 100 Gbps data transfer rate over a single 2 GHz channel within a 35-degree sector at the same site, underscoring e& Egypt’s leadership in pushing the boundaries of 5G transmission capabilities.

The NTRA emphasized that these advancements reflect Egypt’s commitment to maximizing national spectrum resources and accelerating the adoption of cutting-edge technologies as part of building a strong and inclusive digital economy.
