Egypt’s Telecom Regulator Expands Digital Payment Options on “Telefoni” App

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced the addition of new digital payment options on its “Telefoni” mobile application, aimed at simplifying the registration and payment process for mobile device fees (IMEI) and enhancing the overall user experience.
The expanded payment channels now include bank cards from all banks, direct payments through selected bank branches, the “Khidmati” service network, telecom operators’ e-wallets, and the national Meeza card as a flexible and secure payment option. The move comes in line with Egypt’s broader digital transformation strategy, reinforcing efficiency in the new digital ecosystem while making services more accessible to users.
In parallel, the NTRA highlighted continued success with its unified short code *#155#, designed to help subscribers inquire about or cancel unwanted entertainment services such as music, news, and games. The code was used 5.4 million times during the first half of 2025, reflecting the regulator’s efforts to protect user rights and ensure transparent telecom practices.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to supporting consumers and ensuring high-quality telecommunications services across the Egyptian market.
