Majid Al Futtaim Marks 100th Retail Store in Egypt with the Opening of First Carrefour in Suez
Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail, and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, has announced a major milestone with the opening of its 100th retail store in Egypt and the first Carrefour in the Governorate of Suez.
The new opening underscores Majid Al Futtaim’s long-term commitment to Egypt’s socio-economic development, aligning with the country’s Vision 2030. With more than two decades of operations in Egypt, the company continues to expand its footprint while delivering accessible, high-quality products to millions of customers.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Major General Tarek Hamid El Shazly, Governor of Suez, Dr. Günther Helm, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim – Retail, and Mohamed Khafaga, Country Manager of Majid Al Futtaim – Retail in Egypt, alongside senior officials from the Suez Governorate and representatives of Majid Al Futtaim.
Spanning 900 square metres, the new Carrefour store offers more than 7,000 products—from fresh and frozen foods to bakery items, household essentials, and home appliances. The outlet is expected to provide 150 direct and indirect job opportunities and further strengthen food security by delivering greater choice, quality, and affordability to local communities.
Governor El Shazly praised the opening as a model of public-private partnership, saying:
> “The inauguration of Carrefour in Suez is a significant milestone that strengthens the local food security system by delivering quality, range, and affordability. This reflects the value of public-private partnerships in advancing socio-economic development, while supporting job creation and improving living standards in line with the directives of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.”
