Strategic Cooperation between EGYPTAIR and Huawei to Boost Travel Benefits and Digital Transformation for Economic Growth

EGYPTAIR, Egypt’s national flag carrier, and Huawei, a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT), have announced a new strategic cooperation designed to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen economic growth.

The two companies signed both a Business Travel Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at EGYPTAIR’s Cairo headquarters. The agreements establish EGYPTAIR as the official airline partner for Huawei employees, while also laying the groundwork for closer collaboration in the fields of aviation technology, digital services, and smart communications.

Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company, said the partnership represents “a significant strategic leap” for the airline.

> “This cooperation enables EGYPTAIR to benefit from Huawei’s latest technological solutions and smart communications, supporting our digital transformation plans,” he stated. “It will enhance operational efficiency, develop technical infrastructure, and improve customer experience across all stages of travel. Combining EGYPTAIR’s decades of aviation expertise with Huawei’s digital innovations opens new horizons for expansion in global markets while upgrading our digital services and offering more flexible solutions for passengers.”

Captain Mohamed Elian, Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Airlines, emphasized the global significance of the partnership.

> “Today marks the beginning of a truly global collaboration,” he said. “This Business Travel Agreement ensures Huawei employees and guests access to exclusive services on our extensive route network of more than 80 destinations worldwide. It coincides with our fleet modernization and ambitious expansion plans to reach new international horizons.”

As part of the agreements, Captain Elian signed the Business Travel Agreement with Ms. Lang Cao, Vice President of Huawei Global Business Travel, while EGYPTAIR Holding VP for Information Technology, Eng. Yasser Omran, and Huawei Egypt Senior Vice President, Mr. Dou Yong, signed an MoU focused on digital transformation.

Through the partnership, EGYPTAIR will leverage Huawei’s advanced digital and AI solutions to enhance operational performance, improve passenger services, and modernize its digital infrastructure—supporting Egypt’s wider aviation and ICT transformation efforts.

Huawei executives welcomed the cooperation as an opportunity to strengthen economic and cultural ties.
Ms. Lang Cao highlighted Huawei’s Smartcom platform, noting its role in facilitating thousands of daily business travel bookings in China.

> “By connecting Chinese companies with EGYPTAIR’s exceptional network, we aim to enhance cross-continental travel, strengthen economic ties, and foster deeper cultural exchange,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dou Yong underlined Huawei’s 25-year track record in Egypt’s ICT sector.

> “This agreement reinforces our long-term commitment to Egypt,” he said. “By deploying Huawei’s advanced digital solutions, we will support EGYPTAIR in modernizing operations, enhancing services, and maintaining competitiveness on the global stage. This partnership aligns with our vision to contribute to Egypt’s economic transformation and digital leadership in the Middle East and North Africa region.”

The cooperation also reflects Huawei’s continued investment in Egypt’s ICT infrastructure, including AI, cloud computing, and digital solutions, which aim to build a strong digital ecosystem, empower the local workforce, and drive innovation.

By leveraging the strengths of both companies, the partnership is expected to create new opportunities in aviation, tourism, and economic development, underscoring Egypt’s role as a regional leader in digital transformation.
