FABMISR Launches IAM Tool with Hemaya IT, Pioneering Digital Governance and Cybersecurity in Egypt’s Banking Sector

First Abu Dhabi Bank Misr (FABMISR), one of Egypt’s largest banks, has taken a major step in advancing digital governance and cybersecurity with the deployment of the latest version of SailPoint IIQ, a leading Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution. The implementation, carried out in partnership with Hemaya Information Technology, positions FABMISR among the first banks in Egypt to integrate such an advanced cybersecurity framework.

The initiative aligns fully with the Central Bank of Egypt’s Cybersecurity Framework, ensuring stronger identity governance, automated access rights management, and enhanced security for customer data.

The rollout is being conducted in two phases. The first phase successfully integrated five core applications, while the second phase—currently in progress—will expand the system to cover five additional applications. This strategic deployment strengthens FABMISR’s defenses against evolving cyber threats while enabling a more secure and streamlined digital banking environment.

Key internal leaders driving the initiative include Bassel Kelada, Chief Operating Officer of FABMISR; Mohamed Lasheen, Head of COO Business Management; and Ahmed El Sharkasy, Head of Identity, Access and Applications Parameters Management.

Commenting on the launch, Mohamed Abbas Fayed, CEO and Managing Director of FABMISR, said:

> “The deployment of the IAM tool in collaboration with our strategic partner Hemaya IT marks a major milestone in FABMISR’s journey toward secure digital transformation and alignment with the Central Bank of Egypt’s cybersecurity framework. Automating the access review process for more than 3,200 employees significantly strengthens governance, streamlines compliance, and reinforces our clients’ trust in the digital environment through which we deliver our services.”

Gen. Saeed Ibrahim, CEO of Hemaya IT, added:

> “This project with FABMISR represents a milestone in cybersecurity and digital transformation within Egypt’s banking sector. It enhances the security of financial transactions, aligns with global standards, and supports the Central Bank of Egypt’s vision. With over 85% of Egypt’s banks relying on our expertise and partnerships with more than 60 global technology providers, Hemaya is proud to lead such high-impact implementations.”

The initiative is part of FABMISR’s broader three-year roadmap to fully integrate its identity and access management ecosystem, further reinforcing its leadership in digital governance, compliance, and banking security.
