What Influenced Gold Prices Last Week?
At the beginning of the previous week, gold prices came under pressure and dropped to EGP 6,110 per gram, marking their lowest level in a month. The decline reflected weaker global gold prices and pressure from the higher dollar exchange rate.
The dollar later moved lower following a decline in crude oil prices and the return of inflows into Egypt’s debt markets. These developments eased pressure on the exchange rate.
The reported data showed that the dollar lost 4% of its value, equivalent to around EGP 2.20, trading below EGP 54. The currency movement helped restrain domestic gold gains during the week.
