Egypt Launches First Digital Virtual Exhibition Platform and Digital Twin Solutions in Partnership Between EECA and Meta Mall
The Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Fairs (EECA) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with "Meta Mall" E-Marketing to launch Egypt's first digital platform for virtual exhibitions. Utilizing digital twin technology, 3D reality, and artificial intelligence, the platform aims to promote local products and services and open new export markets for Egyptian companies.
This step aligns with the recommendations of the Egypt Forum 2026 and forms part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade's strategy to modernize the exhibition and conference industry, boosting its regional and international competitiveness through public-private partnerships.
Implementation Begins at Hall 5 of the Cairo International Convention Centre
The platform relies on converting exhibition halls into reality-identical 3D digital replicas. Practical execution starts with Hall 5 at the Cairo International Convention Centre, with remaining halls to follow sequentially throughout the contract period. This enables full utilization of existing infrastructure to host virtual and hybrid exhibitions that transcend geographical boundaries.
Minister of Investment: Technology is a Key Pillar for Export Growth
Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, stated that integrating digital technology into the exhibition ecosystem enhances Egypt's competitiveness and expands the reach to exhibitors and visitors locally and internationally. He added that it facilitates seamless communication between businesses and investors, creating new commercial channels to boost exports and drive investment growth.
Transforming Exhibition Halls into Year-Round Digital Assets
Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary Alaa El-Baily, Chairman of EECA, explained that the project provides integrated digital tools for event management by linking the system to the Meta Mall platform. This includes streamlined ticketing and fast-track entry via QR codes. Meanwhile, Dr. Amr El-Nahas, Manager of Meta Mall, highlighted that digital twin technology converts traditional exhibition spaces into sustainable digital assets accessible 24/7 without spatial or temporal limits.
Smart Mobile App and AI-Powered Business Matching
The initiative features a dedicated smart mobile app to manage both physical and virtual events, offering pre-registration, interactive maps, event schedules, and B2B meeting scheduling. Additionally, the platform integrates AI-driven business matching algorithms and analytics engines to deliver interaction reports and performance key metrics.
Supporting Virtual Trade Missions and Global Presence
The partnership grants access to digital event content for post-event leverage, aiding Egyptian companies in international trade fairs and facilitating virtual business missions with foreign buyers and investors. It also encompasses training programs aimed at capacity building and knowledge transfer in digital transformation.
