Cairo ICT 2026: Madbouly Inspects Digital Innovation Projects as Egypt Introduces Automated Services for Investors
Egypt is advancing the digitalization of investment services with the pilot launch of automated self-service kiosks, announced by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh during Cairo ICT 2026, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
The initiative was unveiled as part of the 30th edition of the Cairo International Technology Exhibition and Conference for the Middle East and Africa, where Madbouly toured several government and corporate pavilions showcasing digital transformation initiatives and emerging technologies.
Automated Platforms Simplify Access to Investment Documents
The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) is introducing the Kiosk system to enable investors to independently obtain official documents without having to rely on conventional in-person procedures.
According to GAFI CEO Mohamed Awad, the available documents include copies of incorporation contracts, establishment certificates, and documentation for sole proprietorships. The service is designed to remain accessible 24 hours a day.
The kiosks are equipped with digital identity authentication capabilities covering both local and international investors. Egyptian users can verify their identities through national ID cards, while foreign investors can use passports supported by automated document reading, identity matching, biometric authentication, and facial recognition.
GAFI intends to roll out the technology gradually at investor service centers and other investment-related entities, complementing its existing network of 15 centers across Egypt.
New System Targets 5,200 Transactions Every Month
The authority estimates that around 5,200 monthly transactions will be eligible for processing through the kiosks, accounting for approximately 23% of the total transactions conducted at its investor service centers.
Additional verification procedures will be integrated with the relevant authorities to support compliance with anti-money laundering regulations and applicable security requirements, including checks against international lists and Interpol databases.
GAFI is also working with Egypt Post to introduce a document delivery option, allowing investors to receive requested paperwork at their chosen addresses on the same business day.
Central Bank and FRA Highlight Financial Sector Digitalization
As part of his Cairo ICT tour, Madbouly visited the Central Bank of Egypt's pavilion, where he reviewed digital banking initiatives and developments in financial inclusion.
He also examined the Financial Regulatory Authority's efforts to modernize non-banking financial services through digital transformation and regulatory development.
Other stops included CYSHIELD, FEDIS, Delta Electronic Systems, and eFinance. The latter highlighted technology platforms serving healthcare and financial and banking institutions, alongside its focus on taking Egyptian digital solutions to international markets.
Technology Leaders Present AI and Cloud Innovations
The Prime Minister's tour continued through Hall 2, where he visited OPPO, Dell Technologies, Orange, and Huawei to review their latest products, services, and technological developments.
At Hall 3, he inspected Elsewedy Electric and the Arab Organization for Industrialization, which presented smart equipment, communications technologies, advanced security systems, and energy-saving solutions.
Government Ministries Showcase Digital Public Services
The pavilions of the Ministries of Civil Aviation, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Health and Population demonstrated how digital technologies and artificial intelligence are being incorporated into public services.
Civil aviation initiatives focused on upgrading airport technology infrastructure and improving digital passenger services. Higher education representatives presented applications of AI and digital transformation in academic and research institutions.
Meanwhile, the Health and Population Ministry showcased digital healthcare innovations aimed at enhancing medical service delivery.
Madbouly also visited Microsoft, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Oracle, where he reviewed developments in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data center infrastructure, hybrid cloud solutions, and AI-enabled database technologies, with particular attention to data security and governance.
