Egypt”s Telecom Operators Surpass 100,000 Remote Digital Signatures Within Two Months

Egypt's four telecommunications operators have recorded a significant milestone in digital service adoption, completing more than 100,000 contracts through remote electronic signatures during September and October 2026.

The achievement involves Vodafone Egypt, Orange Egypt, e& Egypt, and Telecom Egypt's WE, marking the first two full months of practical use following the introduction of the service in late August 2026.

The technology enables customers to sign contracts and update their personal information directly through mobile applications, eliminating the need to visit company branches or rely on additional signing equipment.

A New Step Toward Digital Contracting in Egypt

The remote electronic signature service was launched in Egypt in late August 2026 in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), as part of efforts to modernize digital contracting procedures and expand access to electronic transactions.

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) developed a secure digital infrastructure for remote e-signatures, designed in accordance with international standards. The platform connects the systems of licensed electronic signature providers to streamline the issuance of digital signature certificates and facilitate electronic transactions.

ITIDA is responsible for regulating and supervising Egypt's electronic signature framework under Law No. 15 of 2004, which establishes the legal framework for electronic signatures and transactions.

Mobile Applications Simplify the Signing Process

The service allows customers to complete electronic contracts and sign documents using their smartphones, without requiring separate hardware devices such as USB Tokens.

It operates through integration between telecom operators' applications and licensed electronic signature companies, enabling identity verification and secure document signing in line with applicable regulatory requirements.

By incorporating the signing process into existing mobile applications, the service provides customers with a more convenient way to complete transactions digitally.

How Customers Can Sign Contracts Remotely

Customers can access the service when completing procedures that require electronic approval or signed documents, including updating their personal information with telecom operators.

For example, users can access applications such as Ana Vodafone or My WE, select the required service, and follow the instructions to complete the electronic signing process.

The procedure includes reviewing and signing the relevant documents associated with the licensed electronic signature provider, followed by the telecom operator's contract.

The entire process is completed digitally through the application, removing the need for physical paperwork or external signing devices.

Remote Signing Offers an Alternative to Traditional Systems

Traditional electronic signature solutions may require dedicated devices, including USB Tokens, to authenticate users and sign digital documents.

The remote signing model offers a different approach by allowing customers to complete the process directly through their smartphones and integrated digital applications.

This integration enables users to manage service requests, review contractual documents, and complete the signing process within a single digital environment.

Public Awareness Key to Wider Adoption

Despite exceeding 100,000 digitally signed contracts in just two months, increasing public awareness remains an important factor in expanding the service's reach.

Businesses and individual users need greater familiarity with how remote electronic signatures work, their advantages, and the procedures required to use them.

This is particularly important as some customers continue to associate electronic signatures with specialized hardware rather than mobile-based digital solutions.

Strengthening Egypt's Digital Transformation

The expansion of remote electronic signatures supports Egypt's broader digital transformation strategy by reducing paperwork, simplifying contractual procedures, and making digital transactions more accessible.

The service also complements the telecommunications industry's growing reliance on mobile applications to deliver customer services, manage accounts, and update personal information.

As adoption increases, the technology could help organizations across different sectors develop fully integrated digital processes, improving operational efficiency and providing customers with a more streamlined service experience.
