A ministerial panel will take center stage on the second day of the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF Egypt 2026) on Saturday, November 7, focusing on Egypt's government strategy to strengthen entrepreneurship and support startup growth.

Held under the theme “Policy, Investment and Shared Prosperity,” the session is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hall 1 of the JW Marriott Hotel in New Cairo, as part of the Global Leadership Forum.

The discussion is expected to address how government policies can improve startups' access to investment and financing, encourage economic growth, generate employment and help entrepreneurs enter new markets.

Government Participation in Startup Ecosystem Discussions

The festival's press release names Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade; Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry; Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; and Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as participants.

Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, is also listed among the proposed speakers in the official agenda. The schedule indicates that her participation and that of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research are still awaiting confirmation.

Dina Sherif, Executive Director of the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship, will moderate the session, which will examine government investment and entrepreneurship policies and coordination among public-sector stakeholders.

Improving the Business Environment for Startups

The discussions will focus on the government's approach to creating a more competitive environment for startups, including measures to simplify company formation, support business expansion and improve entrepreneurs' access to funding.

The session will also explore ways to connect innovation with productive and commercial activities, helping turn new ideas into viable business projects with the potential to scale and contribute to economic growth.

Linking Investment and Industry with Innovation

Coordination across investment, industrial and trade policies is expected to feature prominently in the discussions, reflecting the importance of an integrated approach to developing Egypt's entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The proposed approach aims to help startups reach new markets, build scalable business models and benefit from investment and production opportunities across the Egyptian economy.

The role of higher education and scientific research will also be addressed, particularly in connecting innovation and entrepreneurial projects with the needs of different economic sectors.
