Egypt has secured fifth place among 27 African countries in the 2026 Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Index, according to Bahir Mounir Ghabbour, President of the Global Entrepreneurship Festival.

Speaking at the opening of the festival's third edition in Cairo, Ghabbour described the event as an important platform for strengthening Egypt's position in entrepreneurship, investment and economic development.

He noted that bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders and international experts creates opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop business connections and turn innovative ideas into viable investment projects.

The festival also offers young entrepreneurs opportunities to learn from established figures, build professional networks, reach new markets and expand their businesses internationally.

Among the prominent personalities participating in this edition are Sir Magdi Yacoub and Sir Ahmed Lotfy Mansour, whose achievements demonstrate the impact of leadership and innovation.

Government Initiatives Strengthen Egypt's Startup Ecosystem

Ghabbour praised President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for supporting innovation, youth empowerment and promising entrepreneurial initiatives.

He attributed the progress of Egypt's entrepreneurship ecosystem to supportive government policies, which have contributed to the country's fifth-place ranking in Africa.

He also acknowledged Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly's support for the event and highlighted the contribution of the Ministerial Group for Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to developing a supportive environment for startups and investment.

Global Festival Focuses on Investment and Innovation

Under the theme "The World We Help Create," the festival seeks to promote bold ideas, encourage collaboration and strengthen partnerships between entrepreneurs and investors.

Ghabbour said the event aims to transform discussions and exchanged expertise into practical projects, business agreements and investment opportunities capable of generating sustainable economic value.
