Egypt Moves Toward Digital Integration of Development Funds and Government Projects

Egypt is moving closer to introducing a centralized digital system that will bring development financing data and project monitoring under one government platform, as part of broader efforts to improve the management of funds received from international development partners.

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, reviewed the latest preparations during a meeting with ministry departments on November 3. The system has completed its first pilot phase, with its official launch expected in the coming period.

A Centralized Framework for Financing Oversight

The proposed system is intended to provide a comprehensive view of development projects, allowing government entities to track implementation progress, completion rates and the disbursement of approved financing.

Abdelatty highlighted the importance of developing a clear and integrated framework to strengthen oversight and ensure that available development funds are used effectively.

Connecting Government Entities with Development Partners

The minister said the new platform would help bring Egypt’s political and development priorities into closer alignment, while supporting a more effective response to ongoing challenges.

He also called for stronger coordination among beneficiary government entities, Egyptian diplomatic missions overseas and development partners to make better use of available grants and financing.

Project Tracking Across the Full Implementation Cycle

The electronic system will serve as a single government platform for organizing financing and project information, with monitoring extending from the negotiation stage through project execution.

By linking ministries and other beneficiary national entities with development partners, the platform is expected to keep information updated continuously and improve how financing opportunities are directed toward the country’s development priorities and plans.
