Latest Gold Rates Across Karats

The reported market prices were:

- 24-karat gold: EGP 7,017 per gram.
- 21-karat gold: EGP 6,140 per gram.
- 18-karat gold: EGP 5,263 per gram.

Local Prices Move Higher Despite Global Weakness

October figures from the Gold and Precious Metals Division of the Federation of Egyptian Industries showed that 21-karat gold gained around EGP 55 over the month, equivalent to an increase of 0.9%, compared with EGP 6,145 at the start of October.

This local movement contrasted with the international market, where the gold ounce fell by 6.8%. The increase of approximately 7.1% in the US dollar against the Egyptian pound helped cushion the effect of the global decline on domestic gold prices.

International Gold Records Another Monthly Decline

The global gold ounce shed nearly $284 in October, extending its decline for a second consecutive month.

Rising oil prices, inflation concerns and uncertainty over the future path of US monetary policy were among the factors weighing on international gold prices.

Meanwhile, 18-karat gold continues to attract some jewellery buyers due to its lower per-gram price compared with higher-karat options.

The international gold price and movements in the dollar-to-pound exchange rate remain key influences on the Egyptian market.
