ABE Highlights Financial Support for Egypt”s Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Industry

The Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE) has highlighted its financing and banking services for Egypt's medicinal and aromatic plants industry during its participation in the sector's fifth annual festival at the Agricultural Museum in Dokki.

The event brought together agricultural stakeholders, producers, exporters and specialists. ABE's presence focused on introducing financial products that support businesses throughout the value chain, from cultivation and manufacturing to packaging and marketing.

Government Officials Review ABE's Agricultural Services

Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk toured the bank's pavilion during the festival's opening, accompanied by Sami Abdel Sadek, ABE's Deputy CEO.

The bank presented its services for farmers, producers and exporters, including financing for agricultural projects and industries that process agricultural products.

Farouk commended the bank's contribution to agricultural development and its financing solutions supporting food security and the competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural products.

The delegation also included Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad, Giza Governor Ahmed El-Ansary and New Valley Governor Hanan Magdy, as well as ministry representatives and industry experts.

Supporting Investment and Export Growth

Abdel Sadek described the festival as a platform for connecting producers, manufacturers and exporters and encouraging investment in industries built around medicinal and aromatic plants.

He pointed to increasing international demand for natural products and plant extracts used in pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics manufacturing, highlighting the sector's potential for further investment.

He added that ABE uses specialized industry events to engage with businesses, identify their funding needs and explain how its financial services can help them expand production and agricultural processing.

Yehia El-Anany, CEO of Corporate Credit, said the bank's financing focus extends across the industry's main activities, including farming, processing, packaging, packaging operations and marketing.

He noted that expanding these activities could help Egyptian products compete more effectively and reach additional export markets.

Focus on SMEs and Sustainable Agricultural Finance

El-Anany said ABE is continuing to enhance its financing offerings and digital banking services, particularly for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises operating in agriculture.

Sherif Mahrous, the bank's Head of Sustainability and Sustainable Finance, added that ABE is working to strengthen cooperation with agricultural stakeholders and support value-chain development and contract farming.

These initiatives are intended to contribute to sustainable development and increase the value generated by Egypt's agricultural exports.

At its pavilion, the bank presented financing initiatives and banking services designed to help investors and entrepreneurs in the medicinal and aromatic plants industry grow their businesses.

Established in 1930, ABE is a fully state-owned bank focused on agricultural and rural financing. Its nationwide network includes more than 1,100 branches, supported by storage infrastructure serving different parts of Egypt.
