ICT Misr Targets Oman and South Africa to Export Tech Services and Bets on Egypt as a Regional Data Hub

ICT Misr plans to expand into new markets, including Oman and South Africa, by studying market needs and supplying skilled Egyptian technical talent to deliver advanced technology services. This aligns with an ambitious strategy centered on exporting tech services and capitalizing on human capital available in the local market.

Mohamed El-Mufti, CEO and Co-Founder of ICT Misr, stated that the company is currently analyzing the Omani market's demand for digital solutions. The objective is to identify required skill sets and fulfill them through its technical teams to match the specific demands of each target market.

Re-activating Presence in Africa and Gradual Expansion

El-Mufti noted that the company aims to re-establish its presence and investment in African markets, leveraging its previous experience in South Africa. He explained that the current approach focuses on exporting digital and tech services remotely, with the potential to set up physical branch offices in the future based on expansion requirements.

Regional Tensions Boost Demand for Egyptian Talent

El-Mufti emphasized that reliance on tech service exports has gained critical importance amid current regional instability and tensions, which have prompted numerous institutions and businesses to seek stable alternative markets for their technical needs.

He added that ICT Misr's business model relies on contracting with international entities while completing all projects remotely via its team in Egypt without requiring technical staff to relocate. This model provides high operational flexibility to capture growing demand for Egyptian expertise and compensate for skill shortages in regions impacted by regional events.

Egypt as a Strategic Destination for Data Centers

El-Mufti highlighted that Egypt’s opportunities extend beyond exporting digital services to serving as a secure hub for attracting Data Centers, particularly as regional institutions require alternative sites to safeguard their data and run their IT infrastructure.

He pointed out ongoing cooperation and agreements with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to establish modern data centers in Egypt. He stressed that recent data loss incidents experienced by some regional entities due to recent strikes have underscored the necessity of secure alternative hosting locations—in Egypt or Europe—to ensure business continuity.
