Ebix Brings AI-Based Financial Risk Intelligence to Its COI Platform for Construction Firms

Ebix is broadening the scope of its Ebix COI platform with two new capabilities aimed at helping construction companies look beyond insurance compliance when evaluating subcontractors.

The company has introduced Financial Lens, an AI-powered solution designed to support financial prequalification, and Integration Hub, which connects compliance information from Ebix COI with the project, procurement and financial systems already used by construction teams.

The new capabilities are intended to give general contractors a more complete view of subcontractor risk, while reducing manual administrative work and creating more consistent, auditable qualification processes.

Financial Stability Added to Subcontractor Screening

Meeting insurance requirements does not necessarily mean that a subcontractor is financially stable enough to complete its obligations.

Financial Lens addresses this gap by extracting and analyzing information from financial statements, tax filings and other documents to identify potential financial risk indicators.

Organizations can configure their own evaluation frameworks, including financial ratios, weighting systems and thresholds, to assess areas such as liquidity, leverage and backlog as part of the subcontractor qualification process.

A Documented Risk Review Process

The solution also creates an audit trail around qualification decisions.

Risk ratings, waivers, overrides and reviewer activity can be documented, giving construction risk, procurement and project teams a clearer record of how subcontractor decisions were made.

This approach is designed to support more consistent reviews while making qualification processes easier to audit.

Connecting Compliance With Daily Workflows

Ebix’s second addition, Integration Hub, focuses on eliminating the disconnect between compliance information and the systems used to manage construction operations.

It connects Ebix COI compliance status, documentation and deficiency alerts with project management, procurement and financial platforms.

By linking these systems, construction teams can reduce manual status checks and duplicate records while keeping hiring and work-approval workflows moving.

Ebix Expands Its Risk Management Offering

Robert Rodriguez, Chief Technology Officer at Ebix Risk, said subcontractor risk management should extend beyond confirming whether the required insurance coverage is in place.

He explained that companies also need visibility into financial stability and access to the underlying risk information needed to make operational decisions.

Financial Lens provides that additional financial perspective during prequalification, while Integration Hub makes compliance information available within the systems where project work is managed.

Together, the tools are designed to help organizations identify and address potential risks earlier.

More Than 10 Million Insurance Documents Each Year

Ebix said insurance compliance remains an ongoing process after a certificate is submitted. Coverage must be reviewed against contractual requirements, deficiencies need to be resolved and compliance must be monitored as policies and project requirements evolve.

The company brings more than three decades of experience in insurance certificate management and currently manages over 10 million insurance documents annually for nearly 400 active customers.

Beyond certificate tracking, Ebix COI provides AI-powered contract analysis, policy and endorsement reviews that can identify coverage restrictions, and financial prequalification based on organization-specific risk criteria.

Its managed services also include verification by insurance professionals, deficiency follow-up, renewal management and continuous oversight.

Customers can either manage workflows themselves or choose fully managed services customized to their operational requirements.
