Khazna Data Centers’ Elisabetta Baronio Named Among Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders 2026
Elisabetta Baronio of Khazna Data Centers has been named among Forbes Middle East’s Sustainability Leaders 2026 in the technology and telecommunications category.
The inclusion highlights the growing importance of sustainability leadership in data centres, which support the expansion of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital services across the region.
Khazna Focuses on Sustainable Digital Infrastructure
Khazna Data Centers has positioned sustainability as a core element of its infrastructure strategy, focusing on clean energy, resource efficiency, and responsible facility design.
In October 2026, the company published its first standalone environmental, social, and governance report, establishing a baseline for reporting its sustainability performance.
According to the report, 27% of the electricity used for mechanical cooling loads was covered by carbon-free electricity in 2025. Khazna has set an ambition to reach 100% coverage for this component by 2035.
The company’s initiatives also include solar energy generation, water recycling for cooling operations, waste diversion, and sustainable building standards.
These measures address some of the environmental challenges associated with data centres, particularly electricity demand, cooling requirements, and water consumption.
Baronio’s inclusion in the Forbes Middle East 2026 ranking highlights the role of sustainability and ESG oversight as digital infrastructure expands to meet growing regional demand.
