Amazon Enters the Personal Smart Device Market with Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse AI Conversation Recorders
In a move aimed at strengthening its presence in the wearable smart devices market and expanding the use of artificial intelligence in organizing daily tasks, Amazon has launched two new devices under its Bee brand, with competitive prices starting at $74.99.
This release represents the first new products offered by Bee since Amazon acquired it last year, as the company seeks to move beyond traditional voice assistants toward tools capable of turning daily conversations into organized information and actionable tasks.
Innovative Design and Competitive Pricing
The company unveiled Bee Frontier priced at $74.99, a new generation device that can be worn around the wrist or clipped onto clothing, available in three colors: Dark Black, Light Purple, and Grayish Green.
It also introduced Bee Eclipse priced at $99.99, which comes in the size of a credit card and can be magnetically attached to the back of a smartphone, available in four colors: Silver, Dark, Honey, and Light Pink.
These price points position Amazon's devices at a lower cost compared to competitors such as the Plaud Note ($159) and Pocket AI ($129).
AI Technology and Daily Task Organization
The devices rely on capturing essential information from daily conversations and generating structured summaries, helping users recall meeting details, appointments, academic lectures, or medical recommendations and turn them into practical actions and to-do lists.
All devices offer free summary retrieval with a 14-day memory retention period. Meanwhile, the Bee Pro subscription service—priced at $11.99 per month—provides an unlimited number of conversation summaries, integration with Amazon.com and Alexa+, suggested to-do lists, and a personal chat assistant.
Data Security and Privacy Protection
Amazon places special emphasis on user privacy; the Bee devices rely on a secure processing architecture that processes audio in real-time and deletes it immediately without retaining raw audio recordings.
Extracted transcripts are encrypted using keys generated and controlled solely by the device and the user, meaning no outside party—including Amazon employees—can access them. Devices can also be optionally linked to Alexa, with the ability to delete data at any time.
Seamless Integration with Amazon Ecosystem and Productivity Tools
Bee extends beyond voice applications to integrate with popular productivity tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook, helping users draft emails, organize meetings, and extract action items.
Users can also upload images or connect with Apple's HealthKit service to add wellness and health data to the information used by the system for personalized insights.
Technical Specifications and Market Availability
Both devices feature a minimalist design with a single button for power and an indicator light to show status. The Bee Frontier features:
IP67 water and dust resistance.
A battery life of up to 7 days with USB-C charging support.
Dual microphones with advanced noise-filtering technology.
Alongside the launch, Bee redesigned its mobile application and introduced a new desktop app. Bee Frontier is now available for purchase on Amazon, while Bee Eclipse is scheduled to launch soon.
