FPT Expands Its Presence in Egypt

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is supporting the expansion of global technology company FPT in Egypt as the Vietnamese group begins operations in the local market and explores plans to scale its business and technology workforce.

Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, discussed FPT’s expansion plans in Egypt with the company’s executives, including its technology talent requirements, recruitment plans for Egyptian engineers and efforts to expand its services to regional and global markets.

The meeting was held at ITIDA’s headquarters in Smart Village as part of ongoing cooperation between the agency and FPT Corporation. The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed during the Global Outsourcing Summit in November 2025 to support FPT’s expansion in Egypt and its access to Egyptian talent.

FPT Opens Cairo New Headquarters

Mahmoud Sefrata, ITIDA’s Vice President for IT Market Development, attended the opening of FPT’s headquarters in New Cairo.

The event was attended by Nguyen Nam Duong, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Egypt; Phuong Dang, FPT’s First Executive Vice President and Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa; Kinan Homsi, Regional Vice President and Managing Director for the Middle East; Mostafa Ibrahim, Head of Delivery for the Middle East; Mohamed El-Saeed, FPT Egypt President; Yasser El-Barbary, Head of ITIDA’s Electronics Industry Program; and representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy, ITIDA and FPT.

The opening marked the official start of FPT’s operations in the Egyptian market.

Global Technology Group Brings Operations to Egypt

FPT Corporation is a Vietnam-based global technology company providing IT services and technology solutions across more than 30 countries.

The company generated total revenue of $2.66 billion in 2025 and has more than 44,000 employees across its core operations.

The group provides services spanning software development, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and advanced engineering, including embedded systems, semiconductor solutions and automotive software and systems development.

ITIDA Highlights Egypt’s Role in Global Technology Services

Ahmed El-Zaher said FPT’s launch in Egypt represents another step in attracting international investment to the country’s IT sector and reflects growing confidence in Egyptian engineering talent.

He emphasized ITIDA’s commitment to supporting companies expanding their operations in Egypt and developing global delivery centers by connecting their workforce requirements with specialized skills.

According to El-Zaher, this approach aims to strengthen Egypt’s competitiveness in outsourcing and cross-border services while supporting knowledge transfer and expanding higher-value technology services, particularly AI-based applications and solutions for regional and international markets.

FPT Starts With More Than 60 Egyptian Engineers

FPT began its Egyptian operations with a team of more than 60 Egyptian engineers specializing in software development, AI solutions and specialized digital application support.

From Egypt, the company currently serves customers in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

FPT also plans to expand its Egyptian operations to support customers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Egypt’s Talent and Location Support Regional Expansion

Phuong Dang, FPT’s First Executive Vice President and Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, said launching operations in Egypt supports the company’s strategy to strengthen its regional presence.

He highlighted Egypt’s engineering and technology talent as well as its strategic geographic position as key factors supporting FPT’s ability to serve customers across regional and global markets.

Mahmoud Sefrata said the opening of FPT’s Egyptian headquarters represents an initial step toward establishing a stronger presence in the local market.

He noted that Egypt and Vietnam have complementary capabilities and expertise in IT, engineering and advanced technologies, while emphasizing the importance of Egyptian talent to the success and expansion of FPT’s investment in Egypt.

Sefrata added that Egypt’s technical and engineering expertise creates opportunities for international technology companies to expand their operations and develop new areas of cooperation.

FPT Targets Growth in Technology-Based Service Exports

FPT’s entry into Egypt is expected to create broader opportunities for cooperation and support the expansion of its local operations and technology-based service exports.

The company’s presence also reflects the growing interest among global technology firms in leveraging Egyptian talent to deliver advanced digital services.

This aligns with ITIDA’s efforts to increase Egypt’s technology service exports, attract foreign investment and strengthen the country’s position as a global hub for IT service exports.
