Vodafone, the British telecommunications company, announced through its enterprise division, Vodafone Business, the launch of its Express Capacity service designed to provide high-speed, scalable data transport links. The service aims to support enterprises and organizations expanding their cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, while connecting new data centers within days instead of weeks or months.

Ultra-Fast Speeds and Standard Delivery Within 15 Days

The new service accelerates the provision of data transport links with capacities of 100 Gbps and 400 Gbps across select strategic routes in Europe. It primarily targets:

Large enterprises and corporations.

Next-generation cloud service providers.

Hyperscale data center operators.

Telecommunications service providers.

Vodafone aims to complete fiber-optic connections and standard testing procedures within 15 days. A 400 Gbps connection can transfer up to 180 TB of data per hour with ultra-low latency, supporting massive data flows between AI data centers, cloud environments, factories, and critical infrastructure.

Coverage Across Key European Hubs and International Connectivity

The service leverages Vodafone’s extensive European network, covering pre-equipped routes in its first phase that connect major digital infrastructure hubs in: London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Marseille, and Milan. These routes span carrier-neutral data centers along key European connectivity corridors.

It also links key subsea cable landing stations directly to Vodafone's core network, enhancing access to major international cable systems, including:

Apollo Transatlantic cable (UK – US).

AMITIÉ cable (UK – France – US).

Europe India Gateway (EIG) cable (connecting 12 countries across 3 continents).

SEA-ME-WE 5 cable (connecting Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe).

Expansion Plans and Supporting European Digital Sovereignty

Vodafone plans to expand the service over the coming years beyond traditional hubs into regions with abundant renewable energy sources and robust international connectivity. This expansion aligns with European Commission initiatives to increase computing capacity and bolster European technological independence and digital sovereignty.

Commenting on the launch, Oscar Monyagudo, Carrier & Subsea Sales Director at Vodafone Business, stated that the challenge is no longer just providing capacity, but making it available in the right place at the right time, emphasizing that Express Capacity was designed to remove growth barriers for businesses needing faster infrastructure decisions.

Moving Toward On-Demand Connectivity and Network Automation

Vodafone is streamlining service delivery by continuously automating connection provisioning, configuration, and testing. This provides customers with transparency, operational visibility, and efficient service management. The launch represents a key step in Vodafone’s broader network automation strategy, aligning with the industry shift toward on-demand connectivity and cloud-native Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) models.
