OPPO Partners with Manus to Integrate Agentic AI into Upcoming Find X10 Smartphones
China-based smart device and mobile phone manufacturer OPPO has announced a strategic partnership with Agentic AI platform Manus. The collaboration aims to integrate Manus' advanced capabilities into OPPO's AI Mind Pilot system, enabling users to transform complex multi-step tasks into ready-to-use results as part of the company's vision to develop a personal, proactive AI that understands user needs and assists with task execution.
A Strategic Shift: From Answering Questions to Executing Tasks
Kai Tang, Head of Software Engineering at OPPO, explained that Agentic AI marks a significant shift from merely answering questions to helping users accomplish tasks. He noted that the partnership with Manus aims to provide more capable and proactive experiences within the AI Mind Pilot system, enabling AI to understand user intent, take necessary actions, and complete tasks. The company seeks to make personal AI a natural part of daily life and work.
For his part, Tao Zhang, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Manus, stated that smartphones are a core focus in people's daily lives and are used to execute numerous tasks, making them an ideal platform for personal AI agents. He added that combining Manus' agentic AI capabilities with OPPO's system-level integration will bring these advanced technologies to a broader audience, helping them accomplish multi-step tasks through simple, natural interactions.
Upcoming Launch: Agent Mode in ColorOS 17
This collaboration will debut by integrating Manus' capabilities into the new Agent Mode within the AI Mind Pilot system, featured on the upcoming OPPO Find X10 series running on ColorOS 17.
The AI Mind Pilot system is designed to go beyond traditional Q&A interactions by understanding the user's end goal, breaking it down into multiple steps, identifying relevant information, selecting appropriate tools, and delivering a complete result—including direct interaction with files and photos stored on the device.
Practical Applications: Trip Planning and Content Creation in a Single Prompt
The system offers smart solutions including:
Travel Planning: Users planning a trip can ask AI Mind Pilot to organize travel arrangements. The system searches for flights, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and attraction tickets scattered across different apps, organizes them, and merges them with online information to create a detailed, day-by-day personalized itinerary without manual data collection.
Creative and Professional Tasks: Users can request to search for and organize trip-related photos or find specific images. The system can also aggregate on-device files and online data to prepare a presentation, business proposal, portfolio, or other ready-to-use content through a single prompt.
Privacy, Security, and Control at the Forefront
OPPO emphasized that privacy, security, and control are top priorities in designing AI Mind Pilot, especially as AI transitions from providing information to handling users' personal contexts and executing tasks on their behalf.
The ColorOS 17 system uses on-device models to understand and organize relevant information locally. For tasks executed entirely on the phone—such as searching for, organizing, or renaming files and photos—the original content remains secure on the device and is not shared with Manus. For tasks requiring external processing, AI Mind Pilot requests explicit user consent before uploading or sharing relevant content.
Users retain full control over the information the system accesses, the actions it performs, and whether to permit external processing. Through on-device processing and clear authorization mechanisms, OPPO and Manus aim to advance Agentic AI capabilities while safeguarding user choices and data control.
Further details regarding availability dates, supported markets, and user benefits will be announced by the two companies upon the official launch of the series.
