Google Teases Fitbit Edge Fitness Tracker Ahead of October 12 Unveiling
Google has offered its first official glimpse of the upcoming Fitbit Edge fitness tracker, confirming the device through new posts on Instagram and X ahead of its expected unveiling on October 12, 2026.
The announcement follows months of leaks revealing the device's name, design and potential features.
The wearable is expected to occupy a position between the Fitbit Air, launched earlier this year without a display, and Google's more advanced Pixel Watch 5.
Google Hints at the Fitbit Edge Launch Date
Google's recent social media posts feature what appears to be a side button on the upcoming device, accompanied by the message: "Get an extra edge on your health. October 12, 2026." The capitalization of "Edge" appears to reinforce the product name, while the date is expected to mark its official announcement, according to a report by technology publication Engadget.
Images of the unannounced Fitbit device have circulated since at least August, when 9to5Google reportedly identified an unnamed fitness tracker in marketing materials for Google's Pixel 11 smartphones.
The product's name became public more recently after Android Headlines published images of the Fitbit Edge, along with reported details about its integrated applications and health-tracking capabilities.
Fitbit Edge Battery Life and Expected Price
Reports suggest that the Fitbit Edge could deliver up to seven days of battery life on a single charge with the always-on display disabled. Battery life may fall to approximately two days when the feature is enabled.
The device is also expected to carry a price of around €179 in Europe, equivalent to approximately $200. However, its US price could be closer to $180, given that the Fitbit Air starts at $99 in both the United States and Europe, according to the report.
These specifications and prices remain based on reports ahead of Google's official announcement.
A New Addition to Google's Fitness Wearable Lineup
The Fitbit Charge 6, released in 2023, was Google's last fitness tracker of a similar size, making the anticipated Fitbit Edge a potential update to the company's dedicated fitness-tracking lineup.
If the reported specifications prove accurate, the new device could offer an upgrade path for Fitbit Air users seeking additional features without moving to a full smartwatch. It could also support Google's efforts to attract more users to its Google Health Premium subscription service.
