Egypt Gold Market Holds Steady on Saturday as Global Bullion Prices Recover
Gold prices in Egypt remained largely unchanged on Saturday, October 10, 2026, following a rise in local market prices during the previous session. The latest stability came after gold gained approximately EGP 40 on Friday, supported by a recovery in international bullion prices.
The price of 24-karat gold reached EGP 7,020 per gram, while 21-karat gold maintained its post-gain level of EGP 6,140. Market activity continues to reflect movements in global gold prices and relatively weak domestic demand.
Gold Rates Across Egypt’s Market
The reported prices for different gold karats and the gold pound were as follows:
- 24-karat gold: EGP 7,020 per gram
- 22-karat gold: EGP 6,435 per gram
- 21-karat gold: EGP 6,140 per gram
- 18-karat gold: EGP 5,263 per gram
- 14-karat gold: EGP 4,093 per gram
- Gold pound: EGP 50,320
International Bullion Gains Nearly 1.5%
Global gold prices advanced approximately 1.5% during Friday’s session, reaching a weekly peak of $4,207 per ounce before easing to around $4,185. The rally was supported by a decline in the US dollar and lower yields on US Treasury bonds.
An analysis published by Gold Billion noted that gold’s ability to remain above the $4,100 support level helped limit the downward pressure seen earlier in the week. The metal is now facing a key technical test as it attempts to move above the $4,200 resistance level.
Exchange Rates and Local Demand Shape Gold Pricing
In the Egyptian market, the dollar exchange rate remained near EGP 52.50, continuing to influence domestic gold prices. Gold Billion’s analysis also indicated that local gold was trading below its estimated fair value, attributing the gap to subdued demand within Egypt.
Investors Await US Economic Signals
Market participants are monitoring upcoming US economic releases and the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook. Changes in monetary policy expectations could affect the dollar and international bullion prices, subsequently influencing gold rates in Egypt.
The direction of the market will therefore depend partly on incoming economic data and signals regarding future US interest rate decisions.
