Open-source artificial intelligence company Nous Research has raised $90 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its valuation to $1.5 billion as it launches new enterprise solutions designed to help businesses deploy AI agents for multi-step tasks and workflows.

The round was led by Robot Ventures and included Nvidia, Union Square Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Samsung and 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner. The latest investment brings Nous Research’s total funding since its founding about three years ago to $158 million.

The company is expanding beyond developers and individual users into the business and enterprise market, building on the reach of its open-source products.

Hermes Agent Drives Nous Research’s Expansion

Nous Research is best known for Hermes Agent, an open-source AI agent that has attracted significant interest from developers and users. The project has been copied more than 24 million times, while the company estimates that its use accounts for about 2.5% of global AI token consumption.

The company plans to direct a significant portion of the new funding toward the enterprise market through Hermes for Businesses, a product designed to allow organizations to build and deploy customized AI agents capable of handling complex, multi-stage workflows.

The solution is intended to help businesses automate a broad range of processes while giving them greater control over agent customization based on their needs and operations, as well as data privacy and security.

Betting on the Rise of AI Agents

Nous Research’s enterprise push comes as the AI market increasingly moves beyond conventional conversational tools toward agents capable of carrying out tasks more independently by completing sequences of actions to achieve specific outcomes.

Through Hermes for Businesses, Nous Research aims to turn the large user base built around its open-source products into a commercial business targeting organizations seeking customizable AI solutions with greater control over their data.

The company recorded an annualized revenue run rate of about $36 million by mid-September 2026 and expects to exceed $100 million before the end of the year, reflecting rapid growth alongside rising demand for AI solutions and task-oriented agents.

The new funding will give Nous Research additional resources to develop its products and expand its enterprise operations as startups and established AI companies compete to turn intelligent agents into practical tools for everyday business use.

The company’s $1.5 billion valuation, reached roughly three years after its founding, also highlights growing investor interest in companies developing open-source AI models and tools as businesses seek more flexible, customizable technologies with greater control over their data.
