Visa Study: 43% of Qatar’s SMEs Adopt Integrated Business Management and Payment Platforms
Findings from Visa’s "Pay and Get Paid 2026" study reveal widespread adoption of digital payments among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Qatar, alongside a growing shift toward unified financial tools. According to the report, 43% of surveyed businesses already use integrated solutions that combine payment processing with core operational management, while 31% of the remaining businesses expressed strong interest in adopting these unified platforms.
Operational Challenges and Cash Flow Pressures
Despite the extensive use of digital payments for daily transactions, the study highlights that separating financial services from operational tasks creates significant administrative burdens for companies:
46% of businesses face ongoing challenges in tracking and collecting outstanding invoices.
42% struggle with managing payroll records.
40% find it difficult to maintain accurate financial records.
Consequently, 43% of SMEs indicated they are likely to switch service providers if offered comprehensive solutions that consolidate financial and operational data into a single platform.
Divide Over Feasibility vs. Proven Efficiency Gains
The study reveals lingering reservations among non-adopters: 18% believe their business size does not warrant such tools, 14% consider them too costly, and another 14% hesitate to rely on a single service provider.
Conversely, current users of integrated platforms report compelling benefits:
51% of adopting businesses expressed high satisfaction with integrated platforms.
57% reported tangible gains in operational efficiency, significantly cutting down administrative time and effort.
New Horizons for Financial Institutions to Expand Funding
Integrating payment data with operational management offers financial institutions a clearer view of cash flow patterns. This enhanced transparency supports better risk assessment and paves the way for tailored financing solutions over time.
In this context, Luca Bianconi, Vice President and Country Manager for Visa in Qatar, noted that the true value of digital payments extends well beyond the transaction itself to post-transaction insights. He emphasized Visa’s commitment to helping financial partners build interconnected, data-driven platforms that assist SMEs in optimizing working capital and driving growth.
About the Study: The "Pay and Get Paid 2026" study surveyed decision-makers across 290 SMEs in Qatar between March and April 2026, as part of a broader research effort covering 11 markets.
