Google has announced the launch of a new generative AI-powered platform named Playground, allowing users to create browser-based games using simple text prompts, without requiring any prior programming or design skills.

An Innovative Experience: Turning Text into Playable Games

Playground converts text descriptions into actual, fun gaming experiences playable on desktop and mobile devices. Users can start a project from scratch or choose from various genres such as trivia or racing games, while selecting whether the game is 2D or 3D, and choosing between single-player or multiplayer modes.

Customizing Assets and Gameplay Mechanics

The platform offers full freedom in specifying game details, visual styles, and interaction mechanics. It also allows users to upload custom images and designs, which the AI transforms into interactive in-game assets tailored to the project’s overall aesthetic.

Direct Publishing and Sharing

Once creation is complete, the game can be played immediately or shared via a direct link, with the option to publish it in the "Explore" showcase to feature community creations. Games include interactive features like leaderboards, while creators retain the ability to edit and update their projects post-launch.

Future Partnership and Access Terms

Google plans to enhance the platform through a future integration with Unity Spark technology to expand 3D game development capabilities. Playground is currently available to users aged 18 and older in the United States, with plans for global expansion. Browsing and playing games is free, while game creation operates on a weekly token system—offering higher usage limits to Google One AI subscribers.

A Step Toward the Future of Interactive Gaming

This move highlights Google’s effort to lower technical barriers and extend the application of generative AI beyond traditional productivity tools into interactive content creation, leveraging its previous experience in the digital gaming market.
