Warning: Critical Vulnerabilities in Android and Chrome – Urgent Update Advised
The need for prompt security updates has arisen once again. The Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT), an affiliate of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), has urged all users and organizations to immediately install the latest patches released for the Android operating system and Google Chrome browser to prevent the exploitation of vulnerabilities classified as "critical."
Critical Vulnerability Threatens Multiple Android Versions
According to security advisory No. (2026-1024) issued by the center, the vulnerability registered under (CVE-2026-58865) impacts a wide range of Android systems, spanning versions from Android 14 through Android 17, including Android 16-QPR2. EG-CERT stressed the importance of installing the software fixes released by the company without delay to protect smart devices from potential breaches.
Security Flaw Targets Google Chrome Desktop Users
In a separate statement bearing No. (2026-1023), EG-CERT highlighted another security flaw identified as (CVE-2026-103628) targeting Google Chrome on desktop platforms (Stable Channel for Desktop). The center noted that Google has already rolled out an update addressing this vulnerability, prompting users to upgrade to the secure version immediately.
