UAE Enhances Its Digital Appeal with e&’s Strategic AI-Powered Infrastructure Project
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Emirates Investment Authority (EIA), witnessed the launch of a qualitative strategic project by e& group to expand and develop digital infrastructure capabilities locally and internationally, reinforcing the UAE's position as a global hub for the digital economy and artificial intelligence.
An Extraordinary Leap in International Connectivity and Latency
During his meeting with the group's leadership, His Highness reviewed expansion plans and future initiatives. The new project aims to increase international connectivity capacity to over 500 Terabits per second (Tbps) by 2030—a 25-fold increase over the current capacity of 20 Tbps. The project introduces diversified routes that boost efficiency, reliability, and deliver ultra-low latency to meet the growing demands of AI clusters and global cloud providers.
A Leadership Vision for Competitiveness and Digital Sovereignty
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed emphasized that the UAE continues its advanced investments to build a robust digital foundation that accelerates innovation and ensures future readiness, highlighting AI as a key driver of national development. Meanwhile, H.E. Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of e&, noted that the project guarantees full ownership and digital sovereignty for the nation while proactively addressing the surging global demand for data processing.
50 Years of Leadership and a New Future Strategy
Coinciding with the start of its 50th-anniversary celebrations, the group announced that it will continue its journey under its historic identity "e&", unveiling its future vision to lead as an AI-empowered and enabling telecom group. The new strategy focuses on four main business pillars: Telecom, AI & Enterprise Solutions, Infrastructure, and Fintech, servicing over 250 million subscribers across 38 countries worldwide.
