Artificial Intelligence at the Service of Down Syndrome Champions: A New Initiative by the Ministry of Communications and Civil Society Organizations
Launch of the "Aqdar" Program to Boost Digital Skills
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) hosted an introductory session to launch the "Aqdar" program, a initiative designed to train and develop digital skills for champions with Down syndrome. The session was attended by representatives of organizing entities, specialists, young beneficiaries, and their families, organized in partnership with the SETI Center of Caritas Egypt and the Al-Asem Foundation for Comprehensive Development.
Training Pillars and Target Audience
The 3-week program targets young adults aged 18 to 35 with intellectual disabilities and Down syndrome. It focuses primarily on simplifying Artificial Intelligence concepts and providing hands-on, interactive experience with AI tools. This enables trainees to utilize modern digital skills in learning, communication, and managing their daily and practical lives.
Enhancing Life Skills and Achieving Social Inclusion
Beyond technology, the program aims to build participants' personal and life skills, boosting their self-confidence and independence. This step aligns with the Ministry's ongoing efforts to create a supportive environment that enables all segments of society to benefit from technological advancements and actively participate in digital transformation.
