Gold prices in the Egyptian domestic market are experiencing a phase of calm yet fluctuating trading, influenced by the recent decline in global markets amid weak local pricing activity. However, the recent rise of the US dollar exchange rate against the Egyptian pound helped stem the decline and curb the precious metal's local losses.

Gold Price List in the Bullion Market Today

24-Karat Gold: EGP 7,000 per gram.

21-Karat Gold: EGP 6,125 per gram.

18-Karat Gold: EGP 5,250 per gram.

14-Karat Gold: EGP 4,083 per gram.

Gold Pound: EGP 49,000.

21-Karat Performance and Weekly Decline

21-karat gold—the most traded in Egypt—recorded a weekly drop of EGP 115 per gram (a decline of 1.8%). It opened the week's trading at EGP 6,240, dipped to a low of EGP 6,075, before closing at EGP 6,125 per gram.

This pullback came after breaking the EGP 6,200 barrier and testing the key support level at EGP 6,100, which halted the downward trend and consolidated attempts to form a new price base.

The Exchange Rate's Role in Curbing Yellow Metal Losses

The rise in the US dollar exchange rate against the Egyptian pound acted as a shield for local gold prices. The US currency rose by about 50 piasters (roughly 1%), settling above the EGP 52 mark. This modest gain in the exchange rate muted the direct impact of the global drop on the Egyptian gold market.

Market Outlook and Future Expectations

Traders in the jewelry market are closely monitoring key price drivers for the upcoming period, primarily global ounce movements and the local USD exchange rate, alongside supply and demand dynamics that determine the final trend for all gold karats.
