Swvl Launches SEND to Enable Intercity Parcel Delivery in Egypt
Swvl has introduced “SEND by SWVL,” a new intercity parcel delivery service in Egypt that allows customers to transport packages between cities using the company’s existing transportation network.
The service enables users to book shipments digitally through Swvl’s platform and follow the delivery process through a range of tracking and verification features. Customers can use QR codes during the handover process, while shipment photos are taken to document its condition.
SEND also uses a one-time password (OTP) to verify the recipient when the parcel is delivered. Customers are required to provide accurate information about the shipment’s weight, dimensions and contents when placing an order, with the company retaining the right to inspect the package and adjust the delivery fee if the actual specifications differ from the submitted information.
For first-time customers, identity verification is required before making a shipment. Swvl also maintains shipment-related records and documentation to support dispute resolution and comply with applicable Egyptian regulations.
Packages are transported directly through Swvl’s intercity routes without being stored at stations. If either the sender or recipient misses the scheduled handover, the parcel continues with the bus to the next station, where the relevant party can complete the delivery process.
The launch comes as Swvl continues to expand its presence in Egypt, following the gradual resumption of its Cairo ride services. The company reported a 45% year-on-year increase in revenue from the Egyptian market during the first quarter of 2026, reaching $4.6 million, while total revenue rose 68% to $8.2 million.
