Egypt and Qatar Discuss Cooperation on E-Invoicing and Digital Tax Systems
Egypt and Qatar have discussed expanding financial cooperation and sharing expertise, particularly in electronic invoicing and the digital transformation of tax administration.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk and Qatar’s Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari on the sidelines of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s annual meeting, held in Doha on September 28 and 29, 2026.
The meeting focused on strengthening financial cooperation between the two countries and exchanging experiences in areas related to tax systems and financial technology.
Egyptian Ambassador to Qatar Walid El-Feki said the talks highlighted Egypt’s experience in implementing its electronic invoicing system, including the technological infrastructure developed to support the system and make it accessible to companies and traders.
The two sides also reviewed Egypt’s experience in modernising its tax system through the use of digital technologies, which has contributed to improving interaction and building greater confidence between taxpayers and the tax authority, according to the ambassador.
El-Feki added that Egypt and Qatar agreed to increase mutual visits to facilitate the exchange and transfer of Egyptian expertise to Qatar, particularly in electronic invoicing and tax-system development.
The cooperation is expected to provide Qatar with an opportunity to benefit from Egypt’s experience in building the technological infrastructure required for digital tax services and expanding their adoption among businesses and traders.
