Performance of Main Indices
The benchmark EGX30 index tumbled 2.72% to end at 51,591 points, while the EGX30 Capped Index dropped 2.68% to 64,206 points. Similarly, the EGX30 Total Return Index retreated by 2.03% to close at 24,236 points. The EGX35-LV index recorded the steepest decline among the broader category, falling 3.76% to 6,165 points.
Small and Medium Cap, Sharia, and Tamayuz Indices
Losses swept through secondary indicators as well: the small and medium enterprise index, EGX70 EWI, shed 3.75% to hit 18,352 points, while the broader EGX100 EWI slipped 3.43% to 24,450 points. Furthermore, the EGX Shariah index gave up 2.71% to settle at 6,224 points, and the Tamayuz index dropped 3.97% to finish at 41,149 points.
