Egypt & Orange Partner to Boost Investments and Train Youth in AI
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Christel Heydemann, CEO of Orange Group, to discuss expanding strategic cooperation in telecommunications and digital transformation. The meeting was attended by key government officials and senior company executives. President El-Sisi praised Orange’s successful track record in the Egyptian market, calling for increased investments to capitalize on promising growth opportunities and national initiatives empowering local talent.
Heydemann emphasized that Orange’s operations in Egypt serve as a benchmark model for expansion across the region, particularly in Africa. She commended the Egyptian government’s efforts in supporting startups, entrepreneurship, and youth skills development. The discussion also covered potential collaboration on the second phase of Egypt's National Digital Health project, leveraging Orange's expertise in cloud computing, cybersecurity, and systems integration.
To support national capacity-building goals, Orange announced international certification training grants for 200,000 Egyptian youths in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Additionally, the group allocated €25 million to empower high-tech startups and committed to equipping several Egyptian universities with state-of-the-art technology labs.
