Bentley Enters the EV Era with the Launch of Its First All-Electric Car
Bentley Motors has officially entered a new phase in its automotive journey with the global unveiling of the Torcal, the company’s first fully electric model. The new vehicle was presented at a launch event in London, highlighting Bentley’s move toward next-generation electric mobility.
The Torcal was designed and handcrafted in Britain, bringing together the brand’s distinctive luxury craftsmanship and heritage with advanced electric vehicle technologies. The model was developed and manufactured at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, Cheshire, marking a significant milestone in the company’s electrification strategy.
£350 Million Investment
Bentley is investing £350 million in its Crewe manufacturing facility to support the production of the new electric model. The investment is expected to help secure approximately 4,000 jobs and strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities as it moves toward an electric future.
The project includes the creation of a new production line inside the site’s oldest building, which dates back to 1938. Bentley is also expanding employee training and skills development to prepare its workforce for the requirements of electric vehicle manufacturing.
The Torcal is being developed and produced in Crewe by Bentley’s workforce of around 4,000 employees. Production will take place alongside the company’s existing combustion-engine and hybrid vehicles, with support from suppliers across the UK
