Egypt’s Banking Sector Index Falls 0.84% at Thursday’s Trading Open
The banking sector index on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) declined 0.84% to 5,637 points at the start of trading on Thursday.
During the morning session, banking stocks recorded trading values of approximately EGP 117.12 million, accounting for 6.84% of the EGX’s total trading value.
The sector also saw around 1.665 million shares traded, representing 0.46% of the total number of shares traded on the exchange.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s main stock market indices moved lower at the beginning of Thursday’s session. The benchmark EGX30 index fell 0.57% to 53,918 points, while the EGX70 index, which tracks small- and medium-sized companies, declined 0.37% to 20,147 points.
The broader EGX100 index also decreased 0.51% to 26,549 points.
