Vodafone Egypt Foundation, Misr El Kheir Back 7,000 Students Ahead of New School Year
Seven thousand students across Egypt will receive school bags and essential supplies under a new round of the Back-to-School initiative, bringing together Vodafone Egypt Foundation and Misr El Kheir Foundation ahead of the new academic year.
The program targets students most in need across different governorates, combining funding from Vodafone Egypt Foundation with Misr El Kheir’s field network and experience in community-based education programs.
Rather than limiting the initiative to distributing supplies, the partnership is designed to ease part of the financial burden associated with the start of the school year and help students arrive at school better prepared.
Vodafone Egypt Foundation is fully financing this year’s program, while Misr El Kheir is handling implementation and distribution.
Employees take part on the ground
The initiative has also brought Vodafone employees directly into the program.
On September 21, volunteers from the company’s Yalla Sharek platform gathered at Al-Tawheed Community Schools Complex in Fayoum to prepare school bags and support their distribution.
The activity reflects an employee volunteering model that Vodafone Egypt has increasingly incorporated into its community programs, giving staff a role beyond the company’s financial contribution.
Ayman El-Saadany, External Affairs Director at Vodafone Egypt, said the initiative is built around a wider view of educational support, where providing basic materials can help families prepare their children for school and reduce some of the pressures surrounding the beginning of the academic year.
He also pointed to employee participation as an important part of the program, allowing Vodafone teams to become directly involved in the communities targeted by the initiative.
A partnership built around community education
For Misr El Kheir, the latest campaign extends an existing relationship with Vodafone Egypt Foundation in education.
Dr. Mohamed Refai, CEO of Misr El Kheir Foundation, said the partnership demonstrates how businesses and civil society organizations can combine resources and field capabilities to support education.
He noted that the value of the initiative goes beyond the school bag itself, particularly for families facing financial pressures at the start of a new academic year.
The partnership also fits within Vodafone Egypt Foundation’s broader education agenda, which includes access to learning resources, digital skills and the use of technology to support educational opportunities.
Established in 2003, the foundation has increasingly connected its social development programs with Vodafone’s technology capabilities. The Back-to-School initiative takes a more immediate approach: combining corporate funding, civil society reach and employee volunteers to get basic educational supplies into the hands of 7,000 students across Egypt.
