Egypt and NVIDIA Explore Cooperation in AI, Digital Skills and Innovation
Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) held discussions with NVIDIA on potential cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), computing, digital skills development, innovation, startups, research and development, and building local computing capabilities.
The meeting brought together Eng. Raafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Paolo Guglielmini, NVIDIA’s Vice President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, along with senior officials from NVIDIA, MCIT, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).
Discussions focused on strengthening research and development in AI and advanced technologies, developing local talent, supporting entrepreneurs and startups, and providing access to specialized technical and training content. The two sides also explored NVIDIA’s training programs in AI, deep learning, and train-the-trainer initiatives, as well as opportunities to expand Egypt’s local computing and AI infrastructure to support developers, researchers, and institutions.
The meeting also discussed the potential preparation of a memorandum of understanding outlining areas of cooperation between Egypt and NVIDIA.
Minister Raafat Hindi highlighted Egypt’s efforts to build a national AI ecosystem and integrate AI technologies into government services, workforce development, economic growth, and social development. He noted that Egypt launched its national AI strategy in 2019 and has since established several initiatives, including the National Council for Artificial Intelligence and the Applied Innovation Center.
The minister also emphasized Egypt’s competitive advantages in the ICT sector, including its large pool of qualified talent, growing technology ecosystem, and investment environment. He noted that Egypt aims to attract more global technology companies and strengthen its position as a gateway to African markets.
For his part, Paolo Guglielmini said that Egypt has the talent and ambition to become an influential force in AI innovation. He highlighted NVIDIA’s ability to support this ambition through accelerated computing, software, AI tools, and training programs that can help developers turn ideas into practical applications.
The meeting also reviewed Egypt’s second National AI Strategy for 2025–2030 and discussed opportunities to support its objectives through skills development, innovation, and wider adoption of AI applications.
