Egyptian Innovators Explore New Solutions for Turning Plastic Waste into Urban Opportunities
Fifteen young Egyptian innovators are taking part in the Open Innovation Challenge in Copenhagen, Denmark, alongside Danish innovators and international experts as part of the DEDI Innovation Exchange 2026.
The challenge is organized through a collaboration between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), its Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) and CREATIVA Innovation Hubs, in partnership with UNDP Egypt. The initiative focuses on exploring innovative ways to transform plastic waste into valuable resources while supporting the principles of the circular economy.
Participants are developing solutions that combine artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), circular design, and community engagement to rethink how cities manage waste and make better use of available resources.
The exchange also connects Egyptian talent with international expertise, creating opportunities to develop practical approaches to sustainability and urban waste management challenges.
The DEDI program is implemented by UNDP Egypt in cooperation with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
